I am a qualified English secondary teacher, working in secondary schools for six years. I have a Masters degree in English Literature, providing me with excellent subject knowledge. I am able to teach English Language and Literature, and I also have experience of teaching Film Studies. My teaching experience covers all age groups, including A level. In addition to classroom teaching, I have successfully tutored several students individually, from primary level to A Level. I have achieved excellent results with these students, helping many not just achieve their target grade, but in many cases surpass it.

I am very calm and patient, and I focus on making sure that my lessons are adapted to the needs of the student, supporting him/her whilst also ensuring that he/she is being encouraged to achieve the very best results. I use scaffolding techniques to support learners who struggle with tasks, and have experience teaching learners with SEN. Furthermore, I also use techniques to ensure my lessons are challenging, and I can help students develop and extend their work to reach higher grades. For example, I use model answers and extended questioning. Every lesson is clearly planned and structured to ensure that students are engaged and key learning outcomes are met. I am also keen to use areas of particular interest to the student in my lessons in order to engage him/her further, and help unlock an enjoyment of English.
