Hi! I'm a languages student at Oxford University, and I’m also a tutor and a TEFL qualified English teacher. I can help you with History, English Literature, French, and Philosophy. The great thing about my degree is that it is multi-disciplinary, so I get study all of these subjects alongside my languages – which means I’m even better equipped to help you with them at GCSE and A level! In school I also completed Additional Maths and Maths AS, so I can help with Maths GCSE as well. As someone more interested in the humanities than the sciences, I know how hard it can be at GCSE level when you need to be strong across the board, but a clear explanation and lots of practise can work wonders.

As well as one-on-one tutoring in England, I've also had the privilege of teaching children and young adults in Palestine and Jordan. So, I’ve taught in many different contexts, sometimes with a set syllabus, other times with materials and structure that I prepared myself. In this way I’ve collated a trove of useful resources and experiences, as, however well-structured the syllabus, in my opinion the teacher’s role is to enrich, thereby, helping you to deepen your knowledge of and passion for your subject.

In our first lesson I might ask to have look at some work you’ve done recently, and we’ll have a chat about what elements of the subject you feel confident about (it’s important to know your strengths!) and what areas might benefit from some support. For example, in French you might feel that you understand a lot but struggle with speaking, or in English, you might have really great understanding of a text but find it difficult to express your ideas in an essay. I’ll then go away and make a plan for our lessons, this plan is just for me, to make sure we cover as much as you’d like, but I hope that our lessons will also be guided by your interests!
