Hello! My name is Izabelle and I am currently studying Neuroscience. I decided to study Neuroscience as I have always been passionate about science as a whole, but when I started learning about neurons and synaptic transmission, I became captivated by how such seemingly simple concepts can be responsible for immensely complex things; how diffusion of chemicals in a synaptic cleft is what allows us to move and to think.



Within Neuroscience, I am very interested in memory and cognition. In my lessons I will be using well researched, effective techniques which have been proven to enhance memory retention and understanding, such as dual coding and active recall tasks. This will hopefully make studying more interesting, enjoyable and beneficial for my students rather than sticking to the standard (and sometimes ineffective) revision methods.



The reason why I wanted to become a tutor is because I want to do something that makes a difference. Being able to help others develop a passion for learning is what I believe is the key to excellent performance. During my A-levels, I enjoyed being able to help and quiz my friends, and I aim to have the same type of interactions with my students; I will not assume the position of a regular teacher, but instead be a friend who cares for their success and wants them to fulfil their potential, and who will be there to support them along the way.
