About Jemma H

Medical school admissions / A-level tutoring

Hi, I've just finished my first year of medicine at the University of Bristol and I am so excited to help other students get into medical school!

I applied to medical school in 2018 for deferred entry. I received 3 invites to interview which resulted in 3 offers: from Bristol, UEA and Keele. All these interviews were MMI style so I have experience in this interview style. I began studying at Bristol in 2020, after taking a year out to work and save money to support myself at university.

I achieved A*A*A at A-level and a UKCAT (UCAT) score in the top 10% of my cohort - scoring 2870 (average 718) with an SJT band 1. Further breakdown for individual UCAT sections can be provided on request.

I have been working with students for the past two rounds of applications, giving them advice on boosting their personal statement, accessing work experience, improving their confidence for interviews and revising for the UCAT. I am particularly experienced in in-depth UCAT preparation, usually providing once or twice weekly practice sessions after having a full and comprehensive session going through each section individually and the strategies required. That being said I am totally flexible to my tutees needs.

I am generally available via email for my tutees between sessions for any advice, worries, questions or anything else they may need support with, including general questions about medical school and the application process. I am very committed to my tutees and will provide any support I can over email between sessions, and am happy to fit in extra sessions if they would find that useful.

Although my A-levels and interviews occurred before the pandemic, I have been working with students throughout this unusual year to make sure they are ready for online interviews, and aren't disadvantaged by lack of work experience. We know that these years are becoming even more competitive when it comes to applications, and I am here to support you throughout yours.
