About Emily T
biochemistry honours student tutoring a-level chemistry
Typically lessons will last about an hour, however, longer sessions can be scheduled by request. For sessions longer than an hour, a fifteen minute break is always implemented - it's good to give the brain a little rest! These breaks in the sessions are free and do not contribute towards the paid hours.
Lessons are based around the specification of the exam board (AQA, OCR, Edexcel etc..), with powerpoints aiding in presenting and explaining the course content. Course content is broken down by topic so that lessons can focus in targeting the weaker spots in the students knowledge. Within the sessions, plenty of past paper questions are asked and routine monitoring of marks enables the student to identify areas of struggle as well as areas of confidence.
Monthly reports are sent to both the student and their guardian, detailing what topics were covered each month plus additional feedback and areas to improve. These can be sent via email weekly upon request. This allows the student to develop a focused and clear revision plan.
I have worked as a tutor, for both GCSE and A-Level students, in STEM subjects for 4 years now. In this time, I have learnt how to adapt to student's learning styles and help student's begin to think about planning for their futures and how to attain the grades they need to get there! Currently, I am in my final year of university, studying Immunology and Pharmacology. Throughout my degree, I have spent plenty of time studying chemistry and applying the fundamentals of chemistry across disciplines, with a primary focus on Organic Chemistry.
If you struggle with Organic Chemistry, you will be in safe hands!
